Custom Outlook  Appointment form revert to default form for Shared  Sharepoint Calendar item

I created custom appt form for Sharepoint Calendar in Outlook 2010.  I was able to create appointments in that calendar using my custom form - with IPM.Appointment.MyForm as  message class.  But for some reason, when I tried to open those appointment items, it uses the default form ('IPM.Appointment') instead of the custom form to display those items.  I noticed that while syncing appointments in Outlook and Sharepoint, the message class reverts back to default IPM.Appointment regardless what custom forms I am using.  Any one came across this issue?

Hi Rakesh,

My custom form is build based on Appointment form.  These are the simple steps.  Assuming that you have a shared calendar from Sharepoint.

1)  Create a custom form base on IPM.Appointment

2)  On P.2, add a field- maybe Categories or just a simple control like a check box.

3)  Publish it as custom form.  This should result is IPM.Appointment.<Formname>

4)  Use it to enter data.  'When posting to this folder, use:---" on shared calendar properties.

5)  The data is entered with new message class representing IPM.Appointment.<Formname>.

6)  Sync it with sharepoint

7)  Double-Click on it to view/edit the item.

7)  Observe that default appointment form pops up instead of custom form.  Why?  Because the message class reverts back to default when sync occurred.

Hi Rakesh,

The below link says it all.  It is the same issue that I am experiencing and what a disappointment that MS Outlook/ Sharepoint Team overlook this issue along with lack of documentation.  As that user said, Outlook-Sharepoint Sync is one of biggest feature of Sharepoint and this flaw has to ruin it.  Maybe your team can huddle around and come up with a patch.

Hello Mike,

Apologize for the delay. I would suggest opening a case with Microsoft, so that Developers can be engaged to work on this issue.

Thanks
